Caseta

How does one design a temporal stand that allows for individual activation and play at all ages?

We reimagined a Caseta, i.e. a library kiosk, in a local park in Segovia, Spain. We were challenged to use wood construction to create unique experiences for our Caseta and to think about the sustainability of the materials. We designed a moveable structure that acts like a playground for reading and can be configured into various positions to accommodate different uses like small gatherings and individual reading. The bookshelf is anchored to an existing bench and opens on both sides. When it is opened, the bookshelf acts like a bridge that connects two areas of our site previously divided by the bench.
